LA EBEWE ORDINANCE COMPLIANCE

AVOID PENALTIES & ACHIEVE SAVINGS

STRATEGIC SOLUTIONS TAILORED to your project

Do you own or manage a building in Los Angeles that is 20,000 square feet or larger? Are you unsure whether you need to comply with the city’s Existing Buildings Energy & Water Efficiency (EBEWE) Ordinance? Properties that meet the square footage threshold must benchmark energy and water use annually and, every five years, complete an energy audit or retro-commissioning (RCx) study to identify efficiency improvements. However, some buildings may qualify for exemptions

The Existing Buildings Energy & Water Efficiency (EBEWE) Ordinance No. 184674, established under Los Angeles Municipal Code (LAMC) Division 97, Article 1, requires certain buildings to track and report energy and water use, as well as undergo periodic performance evaluations. The goal of the ordinance is to reduce energy and water consumption in existing buildings, aligning with California’s broader sustainability and climate action initiatives.

Missing these requirements can lead to costly penalties, but compliance doesn’t have to be complicated—or expensive.

Our expert team helps you determine if your building is required to comply, explore exemption options, and develop cost-effective strategies to not only meet EBEWE requirements but also improve energy efficiency and lower operational costs.
